After a disappointing first Renault UK Clio Cup race at Oulton Park, which saw Dereham racer Dan Zelos trail home 16th, the local racer narrowly missed out on a podium place in race two.
The second event ended up as a two lap blast after an incident halted proceedings for 30 minutes, due to safety barrier repairs, with the Evergreen Tyres supported Zelos in fourth place.
Qualifying hadn't gone well for Zelos, in marked contrast to the earlier rounds when he had often set the pace, meaning he started from 11th and ninth places on the race grids.
In the first he became a victim of the bumping in the midfield and needed a new tyre after a puncture, having being forced off track, while in the second he fought his way into fourth place before a stoppage and kept the position in the shortened restarted race two.
Despite the stebacks Zelos is convinced that his first top three finish – if not better – is just around the corner.
