Artists across Breckland will later this year be throwing open their doors and showcasing their work as part of Norfolk Open Studios event.

It is the largest annual visual arts event in Norfolk, providing an opportunity for all artists, photographers, painters, sculptors, and illustrators to showcase their work to thousands of visitors.

Now in its 15th year, Norfolk Open Studios event in May offers to help and support local artists in opening up their studios, which can even be in their bedroom, for the public to come and admire their work.

It also creates a focus for local artists and audiences to meet, spark interest and nurture enthusiasm for their work.

Stephen Askew, Breckland executive member for communities, said: 'This event is by far the best way of reaching local art buyers and interested people. It is not simply about selling art, but also an opportunity to meet other artists in the area and around the region'.

He said that during the 2008 event, art studios around Breckland saw almost 3,400 art enthusiasts experience the quality of art produced around the district from 37 participating artists.

The Norfolk Open Studios, part of the Norfolk and Norwich Festival, is to run from Sunday, May 16 until Sunday, May 31.
