Children can have fun with nature this half-term with a series of new activities at Pensthorpe Nature Reserve and Garden.

The centre has developed a Wild on Wildlife programme which includes a new activity booklet for youngsters that helps them explore Pensthorpe in a fun and informative way.

Youngsters can go on the Junior Springwatch Trail, become a bug detective on the bug walk, and discover underwater pond dipping.

Also new this year is the Springwatch Garden which shows people how to attract wildlife to their window boxes and gardens, and a new red squirrel enclosure.

The centre is also trying to woo Valentine's sweethearts this February 14, and it is suggesting adopting an endangered animal or bird such as a red squirrel or a rare crane as an alternative to the usual flowers and chocolates sent to loved ones on St Valentine's Day
