Preparations are under way for Holkham Hall's open-air theatre productions which are set to fly into action with a magical performance of J M Barrie's children's classic Peter Pan at the end of the month.

In one of the most interactive of the open-air theatre performances at Holkham to date, children will be able to dress up as lost boys, Indians, pirates or fairies and may be called upon to join in the adventures at various points in the show.

The show on July 29 is the first of five summer productions in the Pottery Yard at Holkham and will be followed by Mad and Merry Monarchs - a romp through history for families, the classic favourite Alice in Wonderland, the hilariously funny farce CharleyAunt, and then ending with the enchanting fairy tale Sleeping Beauty at the end of August.

After two successful seasons, open-air theatre at Holkham is back by popular demand. Guests can bring a picnic to enjoy before the performance and are advised to bring along a low-backed chair or rug. All of the performances with the exception of Mad and Merry Monarchs will be an opportunity for the audience to dress up in the theme of the show if they wish to do so.
