THE first of a series of open days at the Royal Air Force Heritage Room at Bircham Newton will be held at the National Construction College on Monday, March 24.

Opening times are 11am to 5pm.

You can also go along on Sundays, May 4 and 25; Sunday, June 22, Sunday, July 27; Sunday, August 24; and Sunday, September 28.

The project commemorates the service of the old RAF station from 1918 until its closure in 1962.

The Construction Industry Training Board offered space at the college, and the heritage room displays stories, memorabilia, photographs, maps and drawings.

In September 2006 the Bircham Newton memorial, just outside the room, was unveiled, and last September the Docking memorial dedication ceremony took place. Fundraising continues to make essential improvements to the heritage room and to provide information boards in the vicinity of the memorial and the room.
