They are rising stars on the Norfolk music scene and soon they hope they will be wowing the crowds in Spain.

But before they head off on a trip of a lifetime next month they are asking people to help them boost their funds by getting involved in a special race night this Saturday in Dereham.

The three bands, Dysfunction, The Crush, and The Union Jacks, are all from Janel's Drum Tuition(JDT), in Dereham, and create music ranging from punk rock to heavy rock.

During their Barcelona tour the 10 to 16-year-olds will have the chance to perform concerts at a youth hostel, music school and shopping centre,

Nia Howe, general manager of the music school on Rashes Green Industrial Estate, said: “The big thing is that the bands will be able to share their music with other young people.

“With three days of gigs they will really get a taste of what it is like for professional musicians.

“I hope it will really inspire them to do more in the future. It is a huge opportunity.

“It is an experience which is once in a lifetime. They are all getting really excited.

“We really hope we can raise lots of money from the race night so we can give them a huge boost before they go.

“Race night is a family event and I hope lots of people will join us and have lots of fun.”

30 people are going on the trip. The trip will cost £430 per person, and there are also amp hire and UK transfer costs to pay for.

So far the bands have raised about £1,100 by organising their own gigs, promoting themselves on the radio, and supporting the recent Breckfest concert in Attleborough.

The race night is on Saturday. There is a supper at 6.30pm which costs £6.95 for adults and £4.95 for children.

The main event starts at Strikes bowling alley, in Dereham, at 7pm, with the first race at 7.30pm.

Tickets for the race night cost £2.50 for adults and £1.50 for children. There will be eight races and bets can start from 20p

If people cannot come to the event they can still take part by sponsoring a horse for £3. The winning sponsor for each race will win a prize.
