Singers tune up for cathedral Passion
The Mid-Norfolk Singers are busy in rehearsal for their largest concert to date - Bach's famous St Matthew Passion which they are to perform on Saturday amid the splendour of Norwich Cathedral.
The Mid-Norfolk Singers are busy in rehearsal for their largest concert to date - Bach's famous St Matthew Passion which they are to perform on Saturday amid the splendour of Norwich Cathedral.
The performance, starting at the earlier time of 6.30pm, will be given under the direction of conductor Geoff Davidson alongside a number of professional soloists and the Norwich Bach Orchestra.
The St Matthew Passion has been described as 'the richest and noblest example of devotional music in existence'.
It requires a double chorus and orchestra, six soloists and an additional Repieno Choir and is certainly the largest project that the group has ever embarked upon.

The choir, which rehearse at the Trinity Methodist Church Hall in Dereham, has almost doubled in size to more than 95 singers over the past seven months in preparation for the concert.
Geoff Davidson, co-founder and conductor of the well-known Norwich Pop's Orchestra, is also Mid Norfolk Singers' musical director.
