Carnival fun arrives in Swanton Morley this weekend as a busy festival programme kicks off.

The carnival parade will leave Bennett Road at 1pm on Saturday and travel through the village, past Darby's pub and round to the village hall.

The carnival queen and attendants will lead the procession of floats from businesses and clubs in the village.

A range of entertainment for all ages has been lined up at the village hall including a fun fair, bungee trampoline, human gyroscope, mini octopus, bouncy castle, boxing ring, stocks and tug of war.

There will also be a car boot sale and refreshments and the day will finish with a disco and hog roast at 7.30pm. Tickets available on the door (£3 adults, children free) or from Swanton Morley Butchers.

The festival week carries on on Sunday with a dog show on the village hall field from 11am with 11 different classes including waggiest tail, best trick and one dad and his dog. There is also refreshments from 12-3pm at the field and a treasure hunt in the churchyard from 2-4pm.

During the rest of the week there will be a wide variety of events from a quiz to renegade war games to indoor bowls.

The festival ends with a tractor weekend on June 21/22.

Booklets containing information about the whole festival have been produced and are available around the village and in the Times office in Dereham High Street.
